An eye on SS Hellas Liberty (ex- SS Arthur M Huddel) Part 1

“SS Arthur M Huddel” is a Liberty ship launched in 1943. On December 6, 2008  left Norfolk, Virginia under tow for Piraeus harbor, arrived  January 2009.

 General repairs and conversions took place at Perama and Salamis during 2009 and 2010, including installation of a new rudder and propeller. In June 2010  was presented to the public in her restored form in Piraeus harbor with the new name “SS Hellas Liberty” as maritime museum

Liberty ships represent the history of the resurgence of the Greek merchant shipping fleet following the end of World War II.
